Itasca Getaway

Home Project Gallery About Northern Lights About Timber Framing Building Green Getting Started Courses / DIY

This cabin sits on a stunning site, just outside of Itasca State Park, surrounded by towering Red Pines.  It's another variation on the Queen Post Cabin design, this time with large shed dormers on both sides of the central bay.  Design by Steve Tracy Studio in Minneapolis.  Here are some photos we took during the raising.

"Quality" is the word I think of when I think of Clark and his company NLTF.  Clark excels in helping people get from just an “idea in their heads” to actually realizing that dream to build a timber frame home.  He’s really good at connecting the dots . . . communicating & driving the process, helping to identify who you will need to make it happen (designer, SIP panels vendor, installers, builders, etc.)

"Professional" is another word that comes to mind.  Prompt communication and attention to all the details that are important to the process.  First Class – whatever Clark told you would happen – you could count on it – it turned out just the way he said it would.

Did I mention these guys are Master Craftsmen?  I would recommend that you go and visit one of their projects and see for yourself.  We went to the Pine Island, MN–    “5 Gables Home” Open House after meeting Clark at the Cabin Show in Minneapolis.  When you are actually standing in a timber frame space, you will know if it’s really for you.  We did!  The quality is immediately apparent.  With a custom design, each frame is cut and then raised “one at a time”.  Each timber is sanded, finished and individually wrapped in heavy paper, packed carefully for transport and assembly – like a fine piece of furniture....
